With two
private double cabins with ensuite heads on opposing ends of
the boat, Redwings offers unparalleled privacy, space, and comfort
in this price range for two couples. With an additional four
berths available amidships, Redwings can also accommodate a
larger group with relative ease.
The galley is to port and the nav station is to starboard; forward
is a portside settee and dining area which converts into a double
berth, with a single berth opposite. The enclosed head is forward
to port with hanging lockers to starboard. The V berth cabin
and anchor locker are in the bow. The forward head is privately
assessable from this cabin. The aft cabin has a portside enclosed
head (both toilets are Raritan marine toilets), double berth,
and large lockers and cabinets. The aft cabin connects to the
main cabin with a starboard side walkway that passes the engine
to port and has a pilot berth outboard to starboard, and is
accessible through a second entryway from the cockpit. The interior
is finished with a considerable amount of teak bulkheads, doors,
cabinets, and trim. The overhead is finished with a painted
veneer. The cabin soles are teak and holly.
Galley
U-shaped counter with double sink and large storage areas; Taylor
3-burner stove with oven, gimbled, safety rail and strap; hot
and cold pressure water; Isotherm 12 volt air cooled refrigeration.
Salt water foot pump. Lots of storage.
Cockpit
Fiberglass cockpit with teak overlay and two 1-3/4" scuppers
to bronze valves. New (2006) dodger and cockpit awning. Great
visibility from the wheel even with the awning up! Edson steering
with chain to wire to quadrant. Emergency tiller stored. Separate
entryway hatches to forward and aft cabins.
Electrical
12 volt battery system with 8 Trojan 6 volt batteries provides
a huge capacity which was designed for offshore cruising. Excessive
power consumption is therefore not a worry for the coastal cruiser
and it will not be necessary under normal circumstances to run
the engine to charge the batteries while in port. Redwings has
12 volt lighting in cabin and engine room; 12 volt 3700 gph
automatic bilge pump with override; also deck lights, spreader
lights, solar panel, second Rule 800 pump, Heart Interface Link
20. With a Statpower inverter, 120 volt power is also available
throughout the boat so you can keep your computers and cell
phones charged.

Hull & Deck
White topsides with a molded blue boot stripe and blue water
line stripe; blue bottom coat; cabin is white with gray top.
Brightwork in very good condition, molded fiberglass decks with
core and teak overlay; raised toe rails with teak caps; double
bow and stern rails with double lifelines (replaced in '97);
teak handrails in cabin top. Brand new fiberglass deck laid
and painted (grey nonskid) in 2005. All stanchion bases replaced
at this time to ensure lifeline integrity and safety.
Fiberglass keel,
fully protected with molded skeg with bronze heel fitting and
gudgeon/pintle, internal bronze rudder gland. The keel, rudder,
and skeg design have proven to be very "lobster pot friendly"
and the boat has never caught a lobster pot while moving forward
through the water.
